    S&W Interchangeable Parts

I was about to drop the hammer on a new 1911 E series today. I went to my LGS to have him fax his FFL to the seller. He told me that S&W 1911 part's can only be replaced with S&W parts. Is that true & how much of a big deal is it?

The SW1911s have a few parts different by design.
There are two different external extractors, the E guns have the later wide claw.

Your E model does not have a mechanical firing pin block, but I do not know if it uses a standard size firing pin, which is titanium, either way.

Other parts are close to standard but that does not mean they are directly interchangeable. Usable with fitting, mostly.

    I wouldn't worry about it.
