Surefire, Streamlight, Monster Flashlight.com and Solar Force are all good choices.

Have you rec'd the flashlight that you mentioned in Post # 6?

If so, did it live up to your expectations?

    Thanks,

    salty

Yes, I received it. Extremely strong spot light, good for about 200 yards.

It has the five modes mentioned, High, medium, low, strobe and S.O.S.. The negative about it, is it has no memory, and I need to cycle through the modes to get to the desired one.

Talked with dealer and was told that some have it and some don't. If you call him, inquire about getting the memory. The memory is supposed to return back to the last setting if left on more than, I think, five seconds.

Reason for the shipping delay is that it had to be back ordered.

Get the Velociraptor with batteries and charger. The batteries are super sized AA looking and put out 3.7V each.

    Keep me posted, Pappy

Those are 18650 rechargeable batteries. They require a special charger, but it's worth it. They're about the same length as 2-123a batteries in length, but they're slightly larger in diameter.

I have several of these scattered around the house, plus one in each car. The light output is amazing and the price is very sensible. Try them out. No strobe functionality though, unless the 5-mode lights have that. The sellers are very reliable and you can email them with your questions.

    From solarforceflashlight customer service:

    Dear friend,

The 5 mode are high medium Low SOS and Strobe

    - No. of mode available : 5 Mode

    100% 60% 30% SOS Strobe

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

I just ordered 3 lights from them today to replace a NiteCore light I had that ceased functioning. The cost for all 3 was less then the single NightCore light.

Once I recieve them, I'll report back on what I think, but I will say that the reviews I've seen on their products seem to be, for the most part, favorable.

The website could be more informative (dimensions of the lights etc) but they responded quickly (same day) to my e-mail inquiry

Received the shipping notice this am, expected delivery time is 1-2 weeks to the US.

Looking forward to getting them and seeing how well they function!
