Larger Cities that approve the 1911...

Are there any larger metro cities that approve the 1911 for duty use? I do know that Las Vegas Metropolitian Police Department allows officers to carry 1911 style pistols by various manufacturers. But do any other larger cities allow it that you know of? I have heard that Denver Colorado does but I am not sure as I have only second hand information.

    Tacoma, WA, does or did.

Awhile ago we had a thread running to identify what departments issued or authorized the 1911 for duty. Have you used the search function?

The county I live in issues Colt 1911 Series 80 for duty carry and SWAT.

Many who go into harm's way on a regular basis, SWAT/HRT as examples, carry 1911s and there are officers/agents who train to get their split times into the ~.15sec range.

There are many departments all over the U.S. that will, just depends on departmental policy. Some may allow you to if you qualify with it, even if it's not issued.
