    Green lasers worth the $$?

So I noticed that the streamlight tlr 2 s are pretty reasonable...that is unless you want a green laser. Does anyone have one of these? Have you compared it to the red? Is the juice worth the squeeze?

If you can see a red laser in all lighting conditions, then a green laser is not worth anything extra for you.

A surprisingly large percentage of the population is affected, to varying degrees, by a condition known as red/green weakness. It's a type of color vision deficiency. Not "color blind," but an inability to see or to distinguish between some shades of reds and greens. I have it, very strongly. I've known it for many years -- in fact, since the United States Army took me out of what had been my primary MOS of Combat Engineer because they didn't trust me to connect little colored wires to things that go BOOM.

In recent years, I have tried red dot scopes on a couple of rifles (primarily a .22 and an AR-15. At the underground, indoor range where I normally shoot, with the red dot set on a high brightness level, I can see the red dots "just fine" (or so I thought). But this range can't allow centerfire rifle fire, because the higher velocity rounds would punch right through the old, steel backstop.

A friend invited me to bring my then-new AR-15 to the outdoor range of which he is a member to zero it. I first zeroed the open sights, then I zeroed a 4-power optical scope on it and then, last, I set out to zero it with a red dot scope mounted. That was not possible. It was a sunny day and, with the scope set to the highest of eleven levels, I could not see the red dot. It just wasn't there.

I bought another, very similar such scope that offers a green dot, and I can see that under any lighting conditions. I have a red laser bore sighter and I have found that it, too, is only visible for me under low lighting conditions.

I just picked up a Viridian C5L which is a light and green laser in a very compact body and it is hands down the best light/laser I have ever used.

Recently bought my first laser, Crimson Trace laser grips for a CCO. Surprisingly, the green were the same price as the red.
