Like so many opinions, many are unfounded based on FUD.
I own a stainless Remmy and find it to be excellent as described. Overall the tooling and craftsmanship is excellent.

I'd have to agree. The Remington R1S I bought this summer has been a nice gun. If anything, it's been a bit on the tight side, but the quality is up there with most of the other 1911s I have. It would be nice to see a Remington forum for discussion of just Remington issues. They tend to get lost in this forum.
I have wondered some of the same about Remington not having its own discussion area. Ruger had one long before most of us were able to get our hands on one. I have owned the R1S for close to a year and half without one problem. It is as accurate as I am capable.
I know years ago Remington had issues with their 1911 but I am unaware of any with the current production. I understand Taurus PT1911 has been around for a few more years, but even it has it own discussion area. I own both and I can tell you first hand the Remington far exceeds.
As someone else has said I do not want to step on anyone's toes but I really feel it should be considered. Just my opinion.
Every board is different. If you want to read a lot about the R1, there is a board devoted exclusively to Remington products and there are several boards that have R1 forums. If you want to read about some high-end 1911s like Cabots and Volkmanns, this board is the best source on the internet.
Folks, as Hawkmoon said, we consider each brand based on the discussions we receive. So far, Remington's 1911 didn't receive enough traffic to make us devote a forum to their guns. That may change at any time. It is also quite possible that other forums will disappear.
This is a live site, and everything changes as the need arises.
John, I understand what you are saying and respect that. I know it would be impossible to have a discussion area for all makes. If Remington ever does generate enough traffic I hope you will consider it.
Hawkmoon, I agree with your post your post up until hour last sentence "Personally, I think they need to fix their guns before they can expect to generate that level of sales." Could you elaborate more on that. I would love to know more about what you reference.
GC70, I don't know if you intended it that way, but your post makes it sound like this is the place to only discuss high end 1911's. One of the things I have always enjoyed about this site is it seems to be the place to discuss any 1911. I enjoy reading about the high end ones along with the more bargain priced ones.
This is the home of ALL 1911s!
I'll agree with that.
