1911 open class slide.

so as you can see from 2 threads down a while ago i was going to buy a double stack RIA 1911. well i have decided to just a built an open class slide.

i already got a barrel now i need to get a slide and a guide rod and a spring.











Only prob im having on my stock RIA tac is that i cannot get the recoil spring end in. it stops right here.



and ideas what i need to make that fit in?

A guide rod with a reverse plug.

Is the slide opened up, so the plug will go all the way through?

If the plug is simply catching on the compensator and the answer to the question above is 'no', then I would carefully file the corner of the comp, to give the plug the clearance it needs.

i was able to get the spring and plug in by moving the barrel up and compressing the spring i was able to get it under.

just need a link and pin now.

What kind of optic mount should i go with? had a few people tell me not to use a slide mount.

well i got a link and a pin. heard .278 was mil spec. so thats what i got.

Well i got the link and pin and im having a time trying to get them in.

well tested the barrel today its very acc and kicks about as my .22LR convert. down side is it works to good. and with my new 18.5lbs recoil spring it failed to eject all 20 rounds. im going to try and throw my old one back in and see how that does.

You might be interested to know that STI (who build quite a few Open-class pistols) use 9lb recoil springs in all their compensated pistols, irrespective of caliber.

thats good to know not sure what rock island armory uses factory but after close to 5,000 rounds my stock one was wore out giving me fail to feed issue's so if i put that back in would i be back to fail to feed issues?
