My Wife's Big Day
Today was a big day for my wife. We went to the shooting range to test out my new S&W 27-9 .357 Magnum and for my wife to use .357 instead of .38 special rounds in her model 60 .357 Lady Smith revolver. After 2 shots she hollered out, "I can't do this. I'm going to have a big bruise on my hand from this thing". Being the typical "knight in shining armor" husband I am, I said "You're probably holding it wrong". Then I tried it. This little thing kicked like a mule on crack and made my hand hurt like mad. It shot all over the place. I wasn't going to pay a premium for .357 Magnum if all I can shoot in it is .38 Special. The first thing I did (after I shot all my ammo of course) was to pack up that S&W, drive home, pick up the box and contents, drive to my LGS and trade that pariah for a proper gun, a Remington R1 1911 in brushed stainless steel My wife had tried my R1, liked it and shot well with it so I figured why mess with success. She's now the proud owner of a nice new shiny, clean 1911. You definitely can't beat a successful 102 year old design. BTW, my 27-9 S&W with the 6.6" barrel shot like a champ but not better than my 1911.
I'm not as much of a gun enthusiast as I am a "I don't want to be killed by a thug in the street enthusiast".
