Yes, but why should you have to do that?

I believe I have read it here on this forum a number of times “there are no drop-in parts for a 1911”.

Sure there are, I replaced the hammer and sear in my PT-1911 with STI parts and they dropped right in, also replaced the trigger and it certainly works better than the stock one did.

Could it mean that they'd rather do the work themselves, to see that it is fitted properly?
I've run in to this too. Taurus will not send any part they consider a fire control part.

Sure, but the point is that parts CAN be made to fit, with a little work, or at least they should.

If the hole for the firing pin safety plunger in the slide is a bit off (probably too far forward), the implication is that no aftermarket series-80 style extractor can be made to fit, and IF that's true for all 1911 Tauri, that's a different kettle of fish.

The tiny shelf in the round relief cut of such an extractor is what keeps the plunger in place.

If I can remember correctly, before I got rid of all the 80 Series parts, it seemed that the plunger hole was located slightly differently and the plunger itself was somewhat off from Colt dimensions.

I loaded up 3 8 round mags and it shot all of them this morning. The brass was located behind my right shoulder about 6 feet away. I noticed that the Wilson combat extractors' lip (the thing that goes behind the case rim) is about 3 times as long as the Taurus' extractors' lip. I hope this will help anyone having trouble with theirs. Everything has stayed together as of now. If it fails I will let you know. Thank all of you for your help.....

i had a extractor break 2 years back and taurus sent me 3 extractors free of charge. i haven't had a problem since. i would call taurus again and ask to speak to a supervisor, there is no reason why they can't send you a extractor.
