Wow, John, anyone reading that would think you didn't enjoy yourself over there!!

The last of the Colts seems to be very similar to a 1991 model with Colt's Tactical Package... except it doesn't have a checkered frontstrap. Surely a nice thing to make a regular feature, for those who are not fans of XSE models.

    John,

It's unfortunate you arrived (and SHOT SHOW started) during a full-blown arctic front which has a lot of the nation in the deep freeze right now. I understand completely!!!!!!

I am thankful that the next test pistol won't be available to me until sometime after the SHOT SHOW. It's just too darn cold to be outside for any length of time.

I do not plan to get out of this hotel, until Thursday (that's when they expect the temperature to return to normal levels again). Until then, I may have loaded you up with some more pistols Steve.

And yes, the last Colt was a nice pistol. I hope they come out with a similar Commander one.

The "familiar Gold Cup" is not quite so familiar, if my memory serves. The most recent Gold Cup had enhancements that had to be reversed in order to qualify their use in Service Pistol competition here in the States. Colt did a changeup this year, creating a Gold Cup that was legal out of the box.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. However, as always, I reserve the right to be worng!

    Regards,

Isn't it a Talo Custom Carry Government Model? O1991CCG?

They didn't tell me it's a Talo, but with my ears being frozen and under a hoodie, with ear-plugs on, who knows? I'll get clarifications today. Sorry guys, but conditions were not the best yesterday.

Agreed but I think this model (i.e. a NM without the squared rib, etc) was launched earlier, in 2012. I checked Colt's website shortly after reading John's report, and it was there, unless I'm missing some detail(s)! The other Colts John saw have not appeared in Colt's website yet.

Yep that is a Gold Cup National Match O5870NM whereas the most recent blued flat top Gold Cup Trophy was a O5870CS.

I do agree that an O1991 model with the "O Package" from the factory should be a more or less standard offering. The Talo O1991CCG is close but were it me I'd switch the front fiber optic for a Novak Tritium w Target Ring. The Wiley Clapp Govt is nice too.

My point was, the blued, round-top NM isn't new to 2013. It's there in Colt's on-line 2012 catalog.
