It's a useful tool but it has no magic powers!
As we like to say here, 'there are NO drop-in parts in a 1911 pistol'... and that's for guns that are already built, and may need a part (or three) replaced. Building a pistol from the ground up is a different ball game!
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

I carry one in my range bag as well. The last time it out it was to work on one of them plastic pistols.
