BASIC INFO ON CD 1911's...

Charles Daly was brand name used by the importer KBI, also known as KASSNAR, a family owned long time firearms importer. They went out of business several years ago.

The CD 1911's are made by ARMSCOR, the company that makes Rock Island 1911's and other firearms. AFAIK, ARMSCOR will honor the warrantee for these pistols.

I have been shooting 1911's since 1971, and my Daly Tactical is the most reliable one I have ever owned in all that time, no matter what brand, and it is extremely accurate. I have had it for over 8 years now with no trouble.

PLEASE read all the posts here on Charles Daly and on Rock Island and ARMSCOR. ALL that information applies to Charles Daly 1911's.

They are great pistols, and a bargain if you should come across one for sale.

I see questions on parts.

Daly 1911's ARE 1911's, and thus parts for 1911's fit as well as they fit any other pistol of that type...that is, some slight fitting MIGHT be required. Parts may be ordered from ARMSCOR/Rock Island, or from Gunpartscorp online, or really anywhere selling 1911 parts.

I recently installed a complete new slide on my CD Tactical, made from parts ordered from SARCO, Inc. Fits perfectly. I had also stripped the pistol down completely several years ago and replaced the trigger-which a previous owner had also replaced with one I didn't like...again, no trouble at all. I have also installed an old pair of GI plastic grips on it,replacing a very good looking pair of custom double diamond rosewood grips, which I still have.

The Charles Daly 1911's were made of 4140 tool steel, they are very strong and the 2 that I had owned-and the one I still own - are very accurate and reliable...
(I added the new slide so that I now have a GI type pistol as well as a Tactical style pistol with Novak sights.)
ADDED: I just got an email from Ivan with ARMSCOR...
They WILL honor the warrantee and do work on Charles Daly 1911's as long as they are ARMSCOR made, which AFAIK they were.

I believe this is the case (check the dustcover, either the underside or the inside). The only exception were the CD doublestacks, which were made in Israel by BUL.

You are correct...
I don't know how many of the doublestacks actually got sold here...the big flap with BUL was the reason the importer gave for going out of business...but I know they did have a lot of problems with their in house repair and customer service people long before the incident with BUL.

In any case, if the pistol in question says that it was made by ARMSCOR, they WILL honor the warrantee and do work on it.

You're welcome. The CD section has obviously been struggling for traffic, since the company's demise... but we do still roam around here, don't worry.

I just shot my Daly 1911 this morning...I'm glad to see there is still some interest in these very well made pistols.

ARMSCOR does a great job with RIA's and they certainly did the same with these old Dalys.

I have bought some new mags and springs and I will be shooting my CD Tactical in as close to its factory condition as it can get.

I did have the sights replaced with genuine Novaks, changed the trigger and several other smaller parts, such as the safety...but the gun is using all its main factory parts.

I hope to get some range time by mid week, and will report on how the old guy - and the old gun - made out.

I have a few others that should be shot as well, but I will limit my report here to the CD..and I hope to have pics.
