    Another furball in the house

I know the internet is full of kitten pictures, but we have a new furball in the house, so I thought I should show him to you. Actually we have two of them, but the other one, didn't want to come out for a photo shoot.

He is a bit ... cross-eyed at this moment, LoRL. As you see, he is totally grey, just like his older brother shown below.

Cute kitten and the older one is beautiful as well.
I had a gray cat and I still miss him. He had more personality than many people I've met.

    A Little History?

As a long time cat owner I'm interested in a little more detail. They don't look like pound cats so ...What's the breed, temperament, lifespan and anything else you care to mention?

Breed?? Who knows? They are mixed-breeds. We found their mother, Rita, a couple of days after we had moved into this house. She was born on a tree by her mother, and the poor kitten just fell off. I found her under the tree, with her eyes still closed. We fed her with a syringe until she was old enough to eat by herself and she has been the "Queen" of our animal team ever since. She won't back off, even against our male dog, who is about 100 lbs of weight. Of course there is no question about who is the boss between the cats. As for their father, who knows? We havenever met him, LoRL.

The older grey one is now one year old and we call him Babis (a human name not like the ones usually used for pets). He is the sweetest cat we ever had. He eats everything you give him, from dry cat food to meat or fish or whatever. He never complains or creates any issues, very polite, very obedient and he is always on the lookout for caressing. He is especially fond of my wife, as soon as she sits down to watch some TV or have her supper, he is always in her lap. He has a special ritual he does, when he goes on her lap to lie down, it's hard to describe, some day I should video tape it. He goes on her lap, then he puts his head down on the couch side and flips over so that his belly is up, ready to be caressed. Consistent and absolutely repeatable ritual. So funny.

The newly born grey furball appears to have the same characteristics. This time, Rita had her usual litter of four, but two of them died, the first one probably during birth, the second one a few days later. From the two left, this grey one is the most energetic, he got out of the box in which they were born a couple of days ago, and started going around the house, even though his walk is still a bit unstable. He doesn't mind being picked up, as long as you caress him while in your hand, he can stay suspended in the air, on your hand for hours, if you simply caress him. If you do not caress him, he tries to get off your hand, but not with anger or anything, he just is not interested and goes away. He has already started drinking water (so we need to feed him some milk now). His sister, a totally black girl doesn't show any interest in coming out of the box. Something tells me this one will be the bossy kind, just like her mother.

I guess that's all the history I can give you for our team.

Beautiful kitties! I've got three domestic cats myself: shorthair grey, shorthair grey/silver tabby, and fluffy longhair black/charcoal.
