Hi All,
I have a friend who is wanting to sell a Colt 1911 and I think I have it dated to 1918. Serial is 354XXX. Can someone take a look at the pics and see what it is and a fair value to offer?

From what I can see in the photos, all the parts look to be M1911, not A1 parts. The barrel is another matter and would require a field strip to see what's going on with it.
If the barrel is proofed with either a separated H P, or an intertwinned HP and remains in it's original blued finish, then that would be a plus for you.
However, the overall gun's finish appears to be a worn parkerized finish. (post WWI)
I'd offer $1000. I think that would be a decent price for both you and your friend.
BTW, I do like the look of your gun. It would "speak" to me.

The barrel also appears parkerized indicating refinished. I'd say the $1000 offer not out of line if you like the pistol.

Mmmm not much I'm afraid, that's a Black ARMY COLT unfortunately now is neither a collectible (since it was heavily refinished and parkerized), nor a shooter as those old warhorses made with soft steels are not really good shooters.
It's a pity though.
