    As you may know, after WW2 the 1911's (and I guess all other weapons) were accumulated, disassembled, and inspected. Worn out parts were discarded.

    Unknow 1911

    Slide is a 1960s National Match.
    There are hazy markings in front of the slide stop. Non-US proof marks, maybe.

    I do it which ever way is most convenient at the time. I probably use the slide release more often though.
