Greetings from MO

Greetings all and thanks for this forum!

Longtime lover of 1911's but my main interest is in big bore revolvers and handgun hunting.

Many years ago I competed in IPSC matches, and that is where the love affair with the 1911 began. Had a few Colts back then, and sadly let them go. (Traded for revolvers). When I see the prices for a series 70 now it makes me kick myself.

One Colt was traded for a Springfield Armory and that one was traded for a Kimber Classic Custom. This was the first Kimber I ever saw, and I still have that one. It is the best 1911 I have owned and don't see it ever getting away.

About a year ago I added a Rock Island GI. It was one of a pair that I and my oldest son purchased. They are good guns for the money and we wanted some box stock GI type guns. I am proud to say too that son is serving with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg.

This past spring I added a Ruger SR1911 to the family. It is a fine pistol and I like it very much. Those that know me want to know if I like it better than my Kimber. The answer to that is "NO"...but close.

I shoot my revolvers more, but am getting re-acquainted with my 1911's lately. My son was home on leave at thanksgiving and we burned some powder through our "Rocks". That got me to thinking, and I have a brand new RIA wrapped under our tree right now. It is for my other son. I think everyone should have at least ONE 1911!

Dan
