Identifying Serial #...

I'm looking at purchasing:

serial #274791, 1911 Colt mfgd. in 1918

Can anyone help me with some history on this serial #?

Many thanks in advance.

Shipped to Springfield Armory on April 22, 1918 in a 6000 gun shipment. One of the last few orders shipped in sequential order. Shortly afterwards, to speed up the shipments, guns were not required to be shipped in sequential order.

After being shipped to SA, from there is anyone's guess. There are no known records which would indicate who it was issued to, or to what destination it went.
