Large "M" on side of slide on US&S 1911 ??

I have an US&S 1911A1 that has a large M stamped on the side of the slide.
The pistol did go through RIA but all parts seem to be US&S. Could this mean magnifluxed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Karl
