Early style ejection ports sometimes deform cases, especially near the mouth. Later styles have a lower opening and maybe a fairing at the back of the port to help reduce deformation. Not a big pblm if you don't reload.
Your pistol is a Remington? It would be more than 30 yrs old if it is. |

Second on Dorans, post. it is oh so common for the mouth of a case to dent on the ejection port of the standard sized ports, Not a thing to worry about. BTW I really love them old Rands, Posting a Picture of the Rand wouldn't bother me a bit. I'm glad your worry turned out to be nothing. Happy Shooting

Nothing like having a trouble free old 1911, It's pretty amazing how accurate some of those old pigs can be, Most are pretty good, once in awhile you'll find one that shoots all over creation, and then you have the one you found, some are just tac drivers,

The myth of the horribly inaccurate military 1911 comes from two things.
First, troops were trained to shoot one handed, NRA bullseye style. This is fine if you have experience shooting NRA bullseye, but for the average person it is a real choir. Coupled with a six pound and sometimes gritty trigger pull and small sights, no wonder people claimed they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with the darned thing! Second, by the time the Vietnam conflict had arrived, many of the 1911's still in service were well worn and pretty loose. Again, not exactly conducive to accuracy, but this time it was at least partly due to the gun. |

If it is a Remington Rand, it was made between 1942 thru 1945, Remington Rand Only made 1911's during WW II for the war effort. The gun company Remington only made 1911's during WW I, somewhere around 1918. Either way you look at it the gun is pretty old. |
