  • If your pistol malfunctions and you want to ask for help on how to troubleshoot it, post your question in the "Gunsmithing and Refinishing" forum, not in this one.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market parts, these questions should go in the "Parts - Grips" forum, not in the manufacturers forums.

My UC II is sick...Very Sick

Well, my Ultra carry II is sick (cracked frame ) and had to be shipped back to the mother ship this past weekend.

I only have a few K down down range on this one, as it is a carry piece (function and proficiency).

Hopefully all will be well in the end.

That's pretty bad after only a few K. Can you post pics?

Mine too, just sent it back monday. Is yours cracked 1/4" in front of the SS pin on both sides?

Sorry to hear that, guys.

My Ultra CDP II is still flawless. Actually; three of my four Kimbers have alloy frames, and no problems with any of them.

I'm sure Kimber'll make it right.

Let us know how it works out.

Take care,

Rick

I mailed mine on Monday, they called me on Wednesday to say they would be replacing the frame, unfortunately it may take 4-6 weeks.

In the Kimber world of making things right, 4-6 weeks will probably be more like 1-2 weeks.
You'll see. I base this on dozens of threads I've read in this forum.
Don't cancel any shooting dates.

unfortunately I did not take pics.

I was having another issue when I took it in to my dealer for attention.

It felt like the timing was "off" - running a little slow, or the main spring was losing steam (not going 100% in to battery) and when I took it apart I noticed the Ejector was a little loose ... took it to my dealer - that's when they / the smith informed me of the cracked frame.

From the description of reloadem's issue.... it sounds identical. On the frame above the trigger guard, forward of the slide stop...

Same symptons with mine, FTRB, I had to give it a little bump on the rear of the slide. I don't understand how that little crack forward of the SS pin could have anything to do with FTRB, but that is what was happening when I spotted the cracks.

Anything noteworthy about the ammo you're using?
