Need 1911 work...

I usually hate the 1911; I am a Steyr/HK/Glock person normally... but I found an AMT Javelina. My caliber is 10mm, and I do like the longslide 1911's (7"), so I grabbed it. It is going to take place of my Glock 20 as my CCW pistol, but it needs to be worked on first.

I bought a Caspian race-ready frame, and I need for it to be fit to the slide. I would prefer as little slide work as possible, as the frame is replacable, where as the slides are hard to come by. The frame has over-sized rails, and needs a few parts. I could supply photos and more details.

Who is a reliable 1911 gunsmith I could send it to? I was looking at Rogersprecision.com, but he is booked. I have a local smith, but he is usually booked, and I would be paying more than I paid for the longslide in the first place.

Any help would be great.

Yeah....

Currently it is a Glock 20, but I wear under a suit jacket, so I think the Javelina is a little more classy... Glock just doesn't go with a tux that well, you know? I am going to have to rig up a diagonal draw, as it would poke out the back if horizontal. I have been waiting for over 6 weeks and no sign of my Galco holster.

You will be carrying this slide on a 1911 frame??? You must be a tall man!

Gunsmith-wise, I have full trust to Alan Tillman in TX. He build my 9mm 1911, and it's been working and working since the day it arrived in Greece. You may want to check out with him. His e-mail is ArtEnt@austin.rr.com

I can barely conceal a 5 inch Government model, but a 7 inch?

Are you the same kid I saw in a local gunshop a few months back that was getting a CCW permit and wanted to carry a Desert Eagle in 50 AE?

Honestly, I actually did witness a young man, had to be no more than 22 years old, ask the clerk about buying a Desert Eagle for CCW. The clerk steared him away from the Desert Eagle.

Well..

I doubt that was me; though I was considering carrying the .44 Mag Desert Eagle I had, but I personally am not impressed with the caliber or the pistol. I traded it for my Javelina, not really a great trade, but I wanted one.

You have to understand I am going to get a second glance no matter how--I usually have a mohawk, though I shaved it off recently, and I almost always wear a suit when in public. A suit jacket can conceal almost anything, if you put your mind to it.

Oh, yeah... I was considering CCW-ing my Steyr AUG (13.5" barrel), and my XM-607, but sadly, they said pistols only. I really would not mind carrying an AOW/SBR coach side-by-side....
