01070xs questions
I am trying to look up info on these guns online, but finding nothing much at all.
I am wondering if these are series 70 guns, and if anyone can tell me much more about them? I traded one of my kimbers for it because i believe it to be a series 70, and after reading the posts about the series i wanted one. Are these guns aluminium frames? Are there any inheirent problems? Is it to valuable to shoot, or is it all good to fire? Thanks for any input about the gun. I appreciate it. chucky |

Thanks, I did see that, but this is a XS not XSE. I believe there is a diffrence, but only found 1 thread here about it.
Thank you though. Much appreciate that.chuck |

The XS series is the same options basically was the xse. Just a couple of different parts in them meaning the beavertail, sights, and trigger.
The XS came out for one year and the following year was the XSE. The xs is supposed to be one of the better trigger pulls out there. I personally do not care for the sights on the xs models but have gotten used to the ones on mine, there are replacements for them but hard to find due to the cut they use. Trigger on mine is nice, gun is tight and it is accurate. Mine is an officers model. |

Cool, this one is a government model. It looks to be unfired, or slightly i would say. No real residue or scratching, just looks like it has some gunk/old oil around where i would think oil should be. It is a very tight/smooth pull to the slide and trigger.
I do like it, but again, was hoping it was a series 70 model like i read so many others are very fond of. I just wanted one to see how it really feels. ![]() thanks lj |

I'm not sure about the model.
Lock the slide back, turn the gun over and look at the underside of the slide. If there is a round plunger right in front of, and to the left of the back of the slide, it's an -80-, if it's nothing but rails, -70-. |

Per the Colt Model Number List, the O1070XS is a Series 80, stainless steel. The original 70-Series was not offered in SS (except for a few "prototypes" recently sold by the Colt Archives). The O1070's are stainless steel Government Models. The XS appears in the 2000 Colt Catalog. Enjoy your pistol! Regards, Walt
