New Colt runs like a champ!

I just recieved a brand new Colt 1991 Government model a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to relay how happy I was with the pistol! This thing runs and runs. I have put approx. 600 rounds thru it without a single hitch. I have shot everything from American Eagle 230 grain ball, to 185 grain SWC re-loads. I also shot some Speer Gold Dot, Federal 230 JHP +P (ouch!), and Federal Hydra-shok. I had every intention of spending some money taking it to a 'smith for a few bells and whistles but it ain't broke so I'm not inclined to fix it. If anyone is looking for a plain Jane that runs, you might want to look at the Colt.

cool GunCop, I got to agree, that NRM runs like a top. These new Colts are probably the best that have ever been put out. No tricks, they just keep on thumping, They are damn pretty too. Can't beat it with a stick.

Glad to hear you are happy with the pistol. And why shouldn't you be, if it even fires 185 gr. SWC!!!

I am with you about the Colt. I have several for quite some time and have spent more time at the range than I should but as far as any of my Colts I have never been let down.Quality makes a Colt

I have heard more praises than moans regarding the current production Colt 1911's. I have also heard that Colt has again curtailed production so they can concentrate on military and police orders for the M-16. This would be a management decision and Colt has a history of poor management. As I understand it, Colt 1911's contain fewer MIM parts than any other mass produced 1911. I have a total of 6 Colt's in my collection. A 1903 hammerless, two Pythons, a 1917 military, a mix master 1911-A1 military, and a Delta Elite Stainless. All are well made and fine examples of the firearms technology of their times.

New Colt

guncop:

Congrats on the purchase & especially the flawless functioning!

All the recent production Colt's I've examined lately have been pretty impressive. I finally got a chance to go over one of the new production stainless 70-Series pistols & 'twas dang nice. Colt Mgmt., however...

Just picked up New Series 80

I just got back from the local gun shop and picked up a new Colt Series 80.

For comparison, I put it side by side with my Series 80 I purchased in June 1986.

Let me tell you, with the exception of that strange trigger on the new pistol, the quality of the machining on my new pistol is simply superior.

I feel like selling a Garand or 2 and picking up 2 more..... very nice. Can't wait to see how it shoots.... and replace that trigger. I like the old style short triggers.

Haven't been that lucky

My Colt Defender series 90 (beautiful accurate and I buy it again) but after 6 months and 53 rounds shot threw it. Started to sit forward on the frame so that the end of slide & frame were not lined up. Figured it's just the lug but when I opened it up, there was a lot of saving (metal) I took it to a gunsmith and he called it a (Lo Standing Lugs) barrel will worsen, this angle also cause the barrel to get scratched up, what a mess. The last Colt I owned was the Colt Cobra (air weight) 38. That the top-strap cracked. Well hope prevails. I'll let you know how I made out. And please if anyone had dealing w/ Colts warranty policy let me know.

Thanks allot Rudy
