Send the sweetheart out of the house for a while before using her oven
I have never tried it, but I am interested too. |

I have used GunKote before and that is a bake on finish. It does stink!!! Metal prep is key, bead blasted finish, no oil on the metal, parkerize (for GunKote you can use their K-Phos) then apply the color finish as directed. It does work well, but it will wear and chip on the sharp edges.

It does work well. Like stans said metal prep is the big deal. I was worried the first time I tried it but it really did come out better than I thought it would. Use several light coats, Or "follow the directions on the can" BTW I just did a gun with "shooters solutions" parkerizing. You boil those parts. So far I have baked several guns and boiled a couple. I'm really getting to know my way around the kitchen

Baked the Frame!
I received my Lauer "DuraBake" today. I took stumblers advice and sent the wife to the mall
I prepped the frame with Lauer "TruStrip" first. It really turned out better than I had expected! The instructions were easy to follow too. I would attach a photo but I'm not sure how Thank you all for the advice and the "courage boost"!! |

Glad to hear that it came out good. First time I did one I was looking all over for more guns to paint and bake, I was painting and baking door nobs, nails, anything!. Next step for you in the gun cook off competition is parkerizing, once you do that you will get the certification as a Gun Chef, A very high honor ![]() |
