Well, new to me! I always make a habit of checking every now and then in the local pawnshops, to see what they have on the shelf. Well, today I found a Series 80 Gov't Enhanced (blue) for $430. After talking them down, I left with it for $400 even. Had a little surface rust on the hammer (commander style), but I don't care about that, cause I already planned on gutting the hammer, sear, disconnector and doing a trigger job with the new parts. All in all, I think I made out like a bandit! It has the black rubber wrap arounds w/ the Colt medallions. Does have some honest holster wear, on the sharp edges. Serial is FR13xxxE. Any guesses as to age? I was already aware of the cheesy plastic trigger in the 80's, but I hadn't ever noticed that the MS Housing was plastic too. Oh well, guess the S&A checkered/arched MSH will be going in in it's place. I'll try to put a pic up tomorrow, since I know John will want to see! Going to shoot it tomorrow, I'll give you all a range report.

Congrats on the purchase! $400-bucks is a fine buy! I'm thinking Colt didn't switch to nylon triggers/ MSH stuff until after the 1991's came out, so that may help date the pistol. Looking forward to a pic !

Nylon MSH used as early as the mid-'80s, my 1987 came with one.

Now the '87 did come with a steel trigger. You like the Nylon triggers, long or short?

The "long" one (even though they're definitely medium compared to the current 1991 length triggers!). Just have a thing about them; the length of pull w/ a arched MSH is perfect & they don't have any serrations. Just plain feel good & you can find them everywhere for a few bucks !

Good deal on the Colt and yeah, you need to work on the photography skills just a bit.

Here is the end result of some informal shooting with it at 25 yds. Shot very well. I fired the shots using an improvised over barricade supported position. The 2 shots out are called fliers. It fed the SWC's without a hitch, and I am pretty happy with the accuracy. -Steve
