Please note that the forums in this category are to be used to ask questions or to show us pistols from these manufacturers. They can also be used to ask questions about the parts of a particular pistol from one of these manufacturers, as long as the question relates to the original parts.

  • If your pistol malfunctions and you want to ask for help on how to troubleshoot it, post your question in the "Gunsmithing and Refinishing" forum, not in this one.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market parts, these questions should go in the "Parts - Grips" forum, not in the manufacturers forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market magazines, these questions should go in the "Magazines" forum, not in these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about holsters, those questions should go in the "Holsters" forum, not in these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about conversion kits, those questions should go in the "Conversion Kits" forum, not these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about which ammo to use with your pistol, those questions should be posted in the "Ammo" forum, not these forums.

Messages with questions for after-market parts, magazines, holsters, conversion kits, ammo etc. will be moved to the proper forum and a warning will be issued.

Les Baer TRS compared to a Nighthawk

Been saving up for a Les Baer TRS for sometime. How does this pistol compare to a Nighthawk. Is there a Nighthawk that cost close to the same? Pistols about the same or a big difference. Thanks.
AW

I have a TRS and shoot it regularly. It's my favorite. There's a world of difference between a production gun and an LB weapon. But I really like the Nighthawk products. I've shot the Predator and the Talon. I found the NH has cleaner frame lines, a few more features and an even smoother trigger. In short, I believe more work goes into the NH. AND you can order a NH product anyway you want it while others builder's won't do this. I have a Talon II on order and am counting the days til she arrives. Regards

I handled a Talon 2 at a gun show today and was very impressed. Too bad really......now I have another gun to pay for in my future somewhere.

I couldn't agree more. I owned a TRS in Hard Chrome, great gun. I just like the features/feel of a Nighthawk Custom more.

I owned a Talon for a while. It was an excellent piece. I just couldn't stop thinking about my buddies TRS I shot. I ended up selling the Talon and bought a TRS. I could't be happier. The Enforcer is in the same price range as the TRS. You can't go wrong with either!

Thanks for the great comments on both the TRS and Nighthawk. Of course you realize since you loved both of them, some people will have to go out and get one of each now just to check em out.

My Nighthawk Custom Enforcer just arrived last Friday. I took it out and put 300 rounds thru it Saturday and Sunday. It is a fantastic pistol. Extremely accurate, tight fit, and none of that "break-in" feel that TRS have. A friend has a TRS and I have shot it, in my opinion The Nighthawk has a "better feel". It just depends on which one you like better. I will say when I was doing research there were alot of TRS posts saying it needed a break in period or had to be sent back for repairs or adjustments.

Also the customer service from Nighthawk was first rate, kept me up to date on where my pistol was as it was being built.

I have 2 Baers (PII and Concept VIII) and 2 Nighthawks (Talon and TalonIV). Love them all! My Baers were a world of hurt to break in; probably more than they should have needed, but that's Les Baer. If anything, Talon is more reliable out of the box. Talon has more options and are most beautiful, unless of course, like me ,you have a love for the almost forgotten art of 'blueing'. I know, everybody talks about the tougher finishes now days, bla, bla, bla. Trust me, there will come a day when a first rate 'blueing' will cost mega bucks.

Craig, are you reading this? (really nice Nighthawk customer service).

Nighthawk blueing

Dirt,
Just wanted to let you know that you can order a Nighthawk pistol with a blued (yes true blueing) finish. Contact Craig and he will fill you in on the details.
