  • If your pistol malfunctions and you want to ask for help on how to troubleshoot it, post your question in the "Gunsmithing and Refinishing" forum, not in this one.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market parts, these questions should go in the "Parts - Grips" forum, not in the manufacturers forums.

Spartan: WOW

I finally got a chance to give my new Spartan a workout. All I have to say is WOW. Compared to my Taurus 24/7 and Glock 26, it is the most accurate handgun I own.

I won't speak to group size since I'm not a great shot and I wasn't shooting off a rest. But, even in my admittedly amateur hands, it was accurate. This is also my first .45 ACP handgun and the recoil wasn't much of a bother. I'm not as quick with it as I am with a 9mm, but I was very pleased with the results. And, I was only using 230gr UMC FMJ!

Mine is quite accurate as well- very tight fitting slide, especially for a sub $600 gun!

I tried mine at the steel match last night and I love it. I am used to nice expensive guns but this one was so smooth, accurate and reliable right out of the box. Its much more than I expected. Not bad for under $600.

Picking up mine this afternoon. I couldn’t afford to purchase another gun over 1k right now and was just going to put off another gun purchase indefinitely. I am patient enough to wait and save my pennies until I can afford to get what I really want, but then I rented a Spartan at the range. I quickly realized how much fun I could have with it. Fifty rounds later I walked back into the showroom, turned the rental back in and put 50% down a Spartan of my own.

I bought the Spartan right after it came out. I didn't know what to expect in a $560 gun from a company that has an average price tag of $1200 or more. When I brought it home I was in a generous mood and gave it to my son thinking it would be cool for him to brag about having an STI, and since I already had 4 others at the time, I figured I have nothing to loose. Well, was I wrong, REALLY wrong. The boy went shooting with me the next day and brought his shiny new Spartan........ he put a few mags through it all the while letting out his words of choice to express his glee. I was glad the kid was really enjoying his new noide maker, it gave me a great feeling inside, that is until I took my turn with it. Son of a gun, what did I go and do? Needless to say, I no longer refer to that Spartan as his gun. What a great job STI did on putting together an affordable pistol that is of very high quality. Crisp trigger, amazing accuracy out of the box, no FTF's or FTE's, and it really likes the CMc mags I've been shoving in it, and I really have become a fan of that Dawson firber optic sight so much, that I added one to my Range Master.

If you want to really experience a phenomonal firearm, try one of their 2011 pistols...... WOOF!!!! Warning, they are highly addiciting. I am looking to add one in the "Executive" flavor.

Regardless, I think you will love whatever you get your hands on. They really are fine pistols built by awesome people.
