New-to-me Llama IX-C

Just picked up this wide-frame Llama and love it. But I know nothing about Llamas so I have a few questions. First, the trigger seems to be awfully good, maybe 3 lbs. and very crisp, best trigger I've ever shot. Is that stock, or did someone change the trigger from stock?

Second, it came with a Clinton-ban 10-rd. mag but I found a pair of factory 13-rd. mags at JLoweclipsandmags.com but paid $45 each for them.

CDNN is selling .45 ACP 14-round mags by Novak's of Italy for $23 that are marked for "Kimber, Bul & Daly." Will these mags work in my Llama?

I've also read that Para Ord mags will fit my Llama but need a mod to cut a new hole for the mag release to work. Is that true?

Here's my first target with 30 rounds fired at the gun store's range to check function with WWB HPs. She never missed a beat. I named her Big Bertha.

Top row, Steyr M357-A1 with light in nightstand-duty mode and Llama IX-C; middle row, Walther P22 .22LR and Glock 29 10mm; bottom row, pair of 9s, Kel-Tec PF-9 and S&W 669.

netfotoj,
I picked up my used IX-C for $160 and other than needing a new recoil spring it's been a great shooter. Your's appears to have had some money put in it. Trigger, sights, beavertail and hammer look to have been changed. The extended slide stop was a standard part from what little I've found. And yes, I've heard the same about the Para P14 mags. Some altering and they are good to go. Have fun ! triguy

Thanks for the reply. This is the first Llama pistol I've ever seen and have no idea what's stock and what's not. It most definitely has a great trigger and shoots like a dream.

I'm thinking seriously about ordering a pair of those 14-rd. mags by Novak's from CDNN to see if they work with Llama. That's my only need at the moment, some more mags. I was hoping somebody here would know if Kimber, Bul and Charles Daly mags will work.

netfotoj,
While sorting through old mags last evening I came across a picture of your IX-C. Looks like mine is older and your's may have been a "loaded" model from Llama. I question your sights. The picture I saw didn't appear to have a dove front. Anyway, I owned one other Llama, a mini max 45, several years and only recall issues with the mag floor plate welds breaking. Other than that it was a great shooter and I wish I still had it. Good thing about the IX-C is that it fits in a majority of my holsters for my other 5 1911's. And the "fun factor" for the $160 IX-C is super for me ! triguy

I found this photo of an IX-C on an old Llama site left up after the company shut down. It shows the same extended beavertail-grip safety and rubber grips as mine but not the same trigger or the same sights.

Good to know that standard 1911 holsters will fit it as that's my next buy. Thanks for the info.

I have an IX=C and use Para Ord. type after market mags. have to widen the retaining slot . Be careful how much you remove as fit is critical. The best way I found is to disassemble the pistol and remove the mag lock so you can see how much
you need to remove and fit the mag to just lock into the frame. Can usually fined triple K mags at the gun shows for about $15.

Sorry, but I certainly didn't mean to hurt anybody! And I'm not a member of the media, though I did work for small newspapers for most of my career. I've also worked as a community college teacher and web designer and have been working as a technical writer and photographer for a local industry for the past four and a half years.

I'm really mystified by what you mean? This is the review you read: Baddest Tactical Pistol Answer 1A. What did I say that hurt your feelings? Feeling pretty ignorant. As Ricky used to say to Lucy, 'splain it to me.

netfotoj,
Just busting ! It was a good read ! I've worked in law enforcement for the past 23 years and that term is often used after a media misquote.
Exblastre has peeked my interest in fitting a Para mag to my Llama.
