Please note that the forums in this category are to be used to ask questions or to show us pistols from these manufacturers. They can also be used to ask questions about the parts of a particular pistol from one of these manufacturers, as long as the question relates to the original parts.

  • If your pistol malfunctions and you want to ask for help on how to troubleshoot it, post your question in the "Gunsmithing and Refinishing" forum, not in this one.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market parts, these questions should go in the "Parts - Grips" forum, not in the manufacturers forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market magazines, these questions should go in the "Magazines" forum, not in these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about holsters, those questions should go in the "Holsters" forum, not in these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about conversion kits, those questions should go in the "Conversion Kits" forum, not these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about which ammo to use with your pistol, those questions should be posted in the "Ammo" forum, not these forums.

Messages with questions for after-market parts, magazines, holsters, conversion kits, ammo etc. will be moved to the proper forum and a warning will be issued.

Colt Gold Cup Commander

I saw a used Colt GC Commander .45 blue in like NIB condition priced at $1,100. Isn't that way too high? Also, the slide to frame fit is below standard considering it's a GC. Meaning it rattles. Aren't Gold Cups slide to frame fit supposed to be tight?

Gold Cup slide/frame fit can be pretty sloppy on some. The older ones were fit nicely but some have been loose enough to rattle. My first Gold Cup rattled like a box of loose parts and shot about the same.
$1100 probably isn't that bad for one of those, they're not very common.

I would say that is a pretty good price if it is in good shape. They were produced in limited numbers. Slide to frame fit should be snug but not tight.

A Gold Cup AND a Commander - wow! If you don't want it, tell the rest of us where it's available....BTW, my used 1982 GCNM shakes a little slide-to-frame when the hammer is cocked and locked, but almost none with the hammer down. The barrel-to-slide fit is without any movement at all, and it shoots way better than I can. Cheers!

Not an unreasonable price if indeed it is LNIB with all paperwork. If I found another one at that price I would get it....

If it is in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, SD, or a few other states out here and you don't want to buy it for that price then let me know.

I know they made 2 different runs of those pistols. The first run had 500 blue and 500 stainless and had distinct rollmarks vs the later run. I picked mine up this spring with the box and all the papers and a wooden presentation box for 989.00. It is a first run pistol.

Mine is tight and shoots great!

Very nice pistol. Be sure it is stuffed in the right foam rubber that will not hurt the finish.

Price seems to be within reason. Again these are fairly rare. Last two I have seen have been priced at $1260 and $1400.
