Question
Best dealer for real ivory grips?

I've decided to take the plunge and buy real ivory grips for my 1911. I've checked with several dealers (Nutmeg sports, Boone trading, Ajax, etc...) Their prices vary quite a bit.

Does anybody have a recommendation on who I should buy from?

Thanks,

Greg

Ivory grips

Just got a set of elephant bark ivory grips from Elen Hunting and Importing. They were not inexpensive but they are beautiful! I've also heard good things about Fine Turnage Products, but don't have any first hand experience with them.

Real Ivory

Give Jim Alaimo at Nutmeg Sports a call at 1.860.872.7373. He knows his profession and will be most helpful. From personal experience he will deliver quality in a timely manner.

Boone Trading and Nutmeg are the best choices. These grips were plain Ivory purchased from Boone and were then sent to Craig Spegal for thinning and checkering.

Genuine Dumbo Dentition is also available, often at lower prices, from Mike at http://hometown.aol.com/mgpsrjr/myhomepage/index.html

I bought the grips from Mike. They are incredible. Excellent grain. Perfect fit & finish. He also installed some pre-war Nickle-Silver Colt medallions on them. They are amazing. I'll try to post some pics. If you are thinking about ivory, contact this guy. His work is perfection.
