Please note that the forums in this category are to be used to ask questions or to show us pistols from these manufacturers. They can also be used to ask questions about the parts of a particular pistol from one of these manufacturers, as long as the question relates to the original parts.

  • If your pistol malfunctions and you want to ask for help on how to troubleshoot it, post your question in the "Gunsmithing and Refinishing" forum, not in this one.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market parts, these questions should go in the "Parts - Grips" forum, not in the manufacturers forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market magazines, these questions should go in the "Magazines" forum, not in these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about holsters, those questions should go in the "Holsters" forum, not in these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about conversion kits, those questions should go in the "Conversion Kits" forum, not these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about which ammo to use with your pistol, those questions should be posted in the "Ammo" forum, not these forums.

Messages with questions for after-market parts, magazines, holsters, conversion kits, ammo etc. will be moved to the proper forum and a warning will be issued.

My New Little Pony

Just got back from the range with my new Colt Defender. Man, is this thing accurate! No failures at all with ball and controlled expansion ammo. I shot 100 rounds of ball and 120 of controlled expansion. She is ready to be put to work.

Here are some pics. The targets were out to 25 feet. The first target shows the very first 6 rounds fired through it. Not too bad. Recoil is not bad at all either--I could shoot her all day.

Still waiting on my Commander from Colt--they are fixing some corrosion on the frame. Should be here any day.

So far I have been very pleased with my Colts!

Christopher

Colt Compacts

Hi,
Your pistol is quite nice. I am not familiar w/ the compact versions of the Colt. Can someone advise as to the various models & their prod periods?

I see several 1991A1 compacts listed on the Auction Arms site. Are the prices seen there, $400 to $800 + about what these pistols command used?Is the 1991A1 compact still in prod? If not is there a compact version (Colt) which is?

Thanks,
Ron H

Chris,

By the way, how do you explain the 2 hits in the white?

Ron

Nice little Defender you have. I would be proud of those groups from a 5" pistol. I would say she is ready for duty.
You did a great job on those pictures as well.

I still love mine, although, since I live in a more rual environment, I usually carry a Colt Commander.

Size doesn't matter from the looks of those targets. Great shooting.

LOL, the two hits in the white where while firing single handed left side (I'm a righty)

Thanks for the compliments. I was quite vocal about the first group not being more in the center. An old salt at the range couldn't figure out why I was not happy with the group. He keeps telling me I should shoot competition. Don't know about that!

Next in the corral will be a 5" target gun. I want to have something with a red dot sight...

Christopher
