Looking for new Grips

So I've decided to get rid of the plain plastic grips that came on my Springfield 1911 mil-spec, and buy some new grips. I decided that i dont want rubber or wood, so that leaves open the catagory which includes all the more innovative designs using metal, micarta and such.

I've looked at the alumargips and quite a few others in the grips section of the other m-1911.org page, but im concerned about durability and the checkering. Some of them have quite unique checkering, if it even could be considered checkering and I dont want to go off, buy a pair and realize they feel terrible in my hands.

Any suggestions??

I have pewter grips on mine, and they seem to work fine, and I get a lot of questions and comments about them. They weren't terribly expensive. I just did an eBay search, and found a lot of different designs in a lot of different materials.

Thumbs up

i have a series 80 Colt in stainless that came with Hogue wrap arounds. I didn't like the look or feel of the black rubber in my palm, but did like the finger grips they provided.
I went to http://www.ajaxgrips.com/ and got a pair of ivory polymer with gold Colt medallions ($30.00) and a Colt 1911 modular($9.95). Looks good, feels great. I did the same with my Colt Deffender.

I just got a set of slim Alumagrips for my Kimber Ultra Carry and they are awesome. High quality and good service also.

Wood grips

If you like wood grips, check out CollinsCraft. Just got a pair in Australian Lacewood. They are great, really nice on a blued gun.

It would be extremely nice if you could provide a web site for them.

New Grips

I was at the range this past weekend, and i tried out a pair of rubber wrap-around grips. They weren't Hogue, but looked identical, the packaging said they were made by Target Sporting goods. Anywho I decided I liked them and bought them. I was leaning towards getting a pair of Alumagrips in black, but I was unsure if they would hold up to scratching. For now these rubber grips will do though.

Thanks for all your advice
