Replacement parts

What brand (s) of replacement parts do u like? I have the following preferences: Wilson or Brown extractors, thumb safties, slide stops & barrels/bushings; Wolff recoil springs- 14 or 16# for .45's, 12 or 14# for .38S; Wolff mainsprings- 19#; Wilson or CMC Powermag magazines.

I prefer Ed Brown parts. However I have pistols with Wilson parts as well. I think it's a Ford/Chevy thing. They all work, it's a matter of aesthetics for the most part. An Ed Brown beavertail will give a slightly higher grip purchase. When using an Ed Brown beavertail, I will have the frontstrap cut higher also. YMMV

Kings, Wilson, Wolff for springs, and USGI (I have a good supply of various parts from when they and Colt were the only parts one could find.)

MIM parts

You do have to watch all of the parts manufacturers, not just CMC, now for MIM parts. I was very disappointed to learn that a Wilson hammer sear set that I ordered was MIM- I should have realized that "Value Line" was another name for cra*! Also, some Brown parts are cast instead of forged lately.

Wilson mags, Brown extractors if you don't use an Aftec, STI thumb safeties, EGW slide stops, Nowlin or Jarvis barrels, 14# for 45, 8-9# for Super (or an STI Recoilmaster), 17# MS. Bushings? Whatever, if you don't use a bull. Top accuracy is not that important for me.

Just my $.02.

Ed Brown parts are high on my list then comes Wilson if Ed Brown doesn't have anything that fits my taste just right, then Cylender & Slide Hammers and internals, Bomar rear adjustables or Wilson Combat tactical night sights, Wilson Combat barrel (Wilson uses a different twist it's left hand and in recoil with a gun with a wilson barrel it pulls much straight in recoil then a barrel with a right hand twist)... Thats about all in my prefered list other then a few EGW Parts.....

I like Ed Brown, C&S, King's Gun Works and some Brownell's house brand.

I use Novak Lo-Mount Combat Sights exclusively.

Navidrex ultra-thin grips in wood or micarta adorn four of my pistols.

Mec-Gar magazines have given me flawless performance in 1911s, Para Ords and Browning Hi-Powers.
