Off to the Gunsmith I go

Well, I have my parts in and I am taking the new Commander to Predator Custom Shop tomorrow morning. I ordered a beavertail grip safety from Smith & Alexander and a set of Heinie Straight Eight Slant Pro night sights from Brownells. It is supposed to be finished in a week to ten days. Bob Howard is going to install all the parts and bead blast the finish to the original look. I am excited and look forward to getting it back. It will then be set up exactly the way that I want it with the exception of grips. I will get some nice DD checkered wood grips with Colt medallions from my friend Doug Drisoll at the next gun show. I will post a picture of the finished product when I get it back.

Here is the before shot.

Take Care,

Chuck

Like to know what you think of those sights

re your post mentioning "Heinie Straight Eight Slant Pro night sights from Brownells"

I'd love to hear how you like them. Is this your first set, or have you tried them on other pistols?

thanks in advance for info,

-Sean

Thanks for the support guys. I don't know how people wait for 1 to 4 years for a gunsmith to get to and complete a project. Bob told me that the spring was a good time to get this done.

Sean O'Brian,
This is my first set of Heinie sights. I had Novak sights on the TRP that I sold to get this Commander. I just wanted to make it "my" little custom gun. I have always liked the look of the Heinie sights. I am impressed with the way they look out of the pack from Brownells. Larger front dot and smaller rear dot. I tried holding them up to see what it would be like. I will let you know more when I get it back.

Chuck
