anyone here ever cut the end of a POLYMER 1911 dust cover just to fit a commander slide?

i pardon me for not being a tekkie termed guy, but what i want is the end of the dust cover to be "aligned" with the curved end of the slide' cut in the muzzle end.

if cutting a polymer would only result in rough end, then i would abandon this idea.

Haven't done it myself, but being plastic (if I were to remember my University years, I should have said "polymer") means it can be cut and it can be "melted" with some sand paper treatment. Now, I do not guarantee that it will look exactly like the rest of the frame, maybe it will be a little dull, but you can cure that with some silicon spray I think.

Your post helped a lot since often we are sure of what we want to do, but we feel better doing it (or otherwise) if someone else chips in his/her two cents.

I think I would just let things be to avoid the "costly risk". Yes, I feel it's really a risk, and I hate feeling sorry if things get messed up for a "new polymer" frame.
