Rock River Light Rail - photos
OK, hope the photos work.
Original gun has the diamond grips and the added S&A mag well. The new gun has the Ahrends Tactical grips and the hidden mag well. Both have the same features otherwise. Blue, no front cocking serrations, MMC night sights, ambi-safeties, 30 lpi checkering. ![]() ![]() Here's my new RRA. ![]() ![]() This fine pistol joins a great family. ![]() CW from top. Top center, C&S Adventurer, Caspian aluminum frame, Novak night sights, ambi-safeties. C&S Custom, 9mm, Caspan light rail frame, no mag well, MMC night sights, ambi-safeties Baer SRP Commanche, MMC night sights, ambi-safeties, Baer grips, Baer Coat Bottom - Detonics, Brown two-piece mag well, ambi-safeties Baer, Custom Carry, Ahrends Tactical grips, MMC night sights, Brown two-piece mag well, well worn blue finish. This was ordered way before I found that I didn't like front cocking serrations. Colt Combat Commander, Brown Bob tail, Ashley night sights, custom work by Ted Yost. Rock River, the new Tactical light rail gun. Kinda demonstrates my tastes in 1911 guns. I used to train and shoot the Custom Carry, this one has been through about 10 classes and lots of practice sessions, just nicely broken in. Now all training and most shooting is with the C&S 9mm. I carry the Combat Commander or Adventurer and the rest are there just cause I can and I like them which is all the reason that anyone needs to have another 1911. Jim |

Simply stunning.
Many thanks. And, BTW... thanks a WHOLE lot for increasing my "I want a RRA Tactical" quotient by ten-fold... ![]() |

LSP972,
You're welcome. I am a professional at helping other people spend their money, big money and lots of it over multiple occurrences. Once you go to the RRA guns (or the Baers or C&S) you'll never look back. These are worth the wait and what you pay for them. I don't know where you are but I'm in Grand Rapids, Michigan. If you are ever close or live in this area you are welcome to shoot any of these. They look great and shoot better. Jim |

That is beautiful with no front serrations, just awesome. Could you expand on the hidden magwell? Did you order that way from RRA, is it integral?

Hobbes,
I first saw the integral mag well on a sample RRA light rail tactical gun at SHOT 2005. This is exactly what I wanted so I ordered the gun. The gun was ordered as you see it except I had the grips sent to RRA otherwise they supplied and did everything. I believe that the magwell is a Richard Heinie part. It was ordered installed from RRA. The magwell is attached with screws to the shortened frame. The overall assembly is the same length as a standard frame. There was an Ed Brown weld-on mag well a few years ago but it has been discontinued from what I understand. I would have preferred the weld-on design. The only thing that I might do is to round the bottom of the grips a bit to get rid of the sharp edge. Hope this answers your questions. Jim |

Yes it does answer them, thanks!

Jim,
I finally found you, I was looking over at that "other forum"! After talking to you at Shot Show at the Rock River Arms booth I couldn't find the post about your Tac.guns that you were telling me about. It was real pleasure to get to talk to you again. Anybody that is as crazy about 1911s as you are is alright in my book. I'm hoping that the administrator of this forum will allow me to be listed as a company representative. Mark Z |
