    Very good review.

Particulary because it "answered" the size question once and for all.

I guess you buy it if you want or need a smaller grip and as an alternative to a small Kimber 9mm, just for example. Otherwise it's pretty much the same size as a small 45.

    Hawk,

Was the gun new and unfired other than the test target or had it already been broken in?

Great review Hawkmoon. I was hoping for something almost as small and light as the Colt Gov't 380 with a 9mm punch. But, it may still be more controllable and concealable for me than a Defender. It is certainly accurate enough! I will have to feel and handle one of these for myself...
    Regards

I ain't Hawk but the EMP was new when it arrived (I think, if Hawk proves me wrong, I'll ... fire him).

For all of us less learned folk, here's some help. I can't see myself using the word, pedantic but synonyms are right up my alley. Seriously, this is another very good review with good pics that describe the pistol well. There was one pic, the one showing the wood grips, that didn't link properly to me for some reason. Otherwise, another exceptionally well done review!! Kudos to hawkmoon!

Last night when I was transfering the images to the server, something happened and the transfer was interrupted, so that picture was missing from the low resolution pictures directory. It showed fine if your monitor has an analysis of 1280 or higher, but in lower resolutions, it was not there. Sorry for the inconvenience.

As far as I know, it was brand, spankin' new. The folks at Springfield said they were going to grab it from production to send us, and it certainly didn't appear to have been fired when I received it. I'm quite sure it hadn't been through any other tester's hands, because there was no evidence of holster wear or other finish degradation.

FWIW -- Springfield shipped it extremely "wet." I field stripped it before firing, but I didn't need to add any lube. What was on it was more than enough to keep it humming along quite happily for break-in.

Speaking of test target ... now that you mention it, I don't believe there was a test target. The photo of the pistol on top of a target was one of my targets, not a test target that arrived with the pistol.

The grip screws look like they have Torx heads and not hex like mentioned in the review. I know my loaded Springfield had that style. I forget exactly what size, around T20 I think.

You just may have me on that. I basically noted that the hex key in the goodies bag didn't fit and went on from there. I hate torx fasteners so much from my automotive hobyy that, to be honest, it never even occurred to me that they might be torx screws, so I didn't look closely. My error.
