Polished Barrel Bushings

I want to get a stainless polished barrel bushing for my springfield armory mil spec 1911.

Where can I find such and animal? The one on the firearm is cheesy looking and looks like pot metal.

Also want a stainless polished recoil spring plug.

Thanks,
compadre

I wouldn't replace a barrel bushing because of its looks. The bushing is an integral part of the pistol and responsible for positioning the front of the barrel. If the gun is shooting well (accurately) I would leave well enough alone. If you want to improve accuracy, Briley makes a spherical bushing available from Brownells. In any event, this is a mod that should not be made based on appearance.

Why not just polish the existing one, to whatever level of shiny-ness you desire?

agreed. polish the heck out of the original parts and protect them with Armadillo or something similar to keep from rusting...

Briley, Brown and WIlson Bushings

I put an Ed Brown guide rod and bushing on my milspec springfield, got the set used on ebay including the stainless retaining plug. Dont count out ebay, just avoid redddogggxxxalaska or what ever variation he is using, if the location is alaska , might be him. Also a good place to find slides and barrels, but cant get frames anymore. Damn liberal anti gun lady that runs ebay. Also try www.gunbroker.com I call it gunbay.

I have the brown ss bushing as well and was really impressed with how nicely it sized, will buy more brown bushings in the future.

My favorite is the Briley system. The outer bushing is fitted to the slide and then the inner bushing is fitted to the barrel. The inner bushing is a close fit to the barrel, but moves easily up and down inside the outer bushing. Thsi gives you a tight lock up with easy movement of the barrel.
