Need some input. I Picked up a Barrel for my Star 1911 in 9mm at a GS. The guy I bought it from said he thought it was a 38 super barrel. It has the Spanish proof mark and I am thinking it is a 9mm largo. Did Star ever chamber a barrel for the Model B in 38 super?

According to the book by Gene Gangarosa Jr. "Spanish Handguns"....Star only produced the Model B in 9mm.

The only reference I can find says that some early guns ( pre WWII were produced in 7.65mm (Axis Pistols Jan Still)
I think its possible you have a Llama barrel which were produced in 38 super .
There is a very nice early Llama 1939 illustrated pg 164 illustrated encyclopedia Pistols & Revolvers Mj Frederick Myatt (Tiger press) which claims to be .38" super It has a 127mm barrel

What length is your barrel ? are there any other distinquishing marks/stamps ? Is it actually stamped .38? or have you used a micrometer on it ? Do you have a production date for your Star ?

ps just read that there are several .38in including Colt , S & W and Super and they are not the same round apparently. Perhaps to be safe you should let a gunsmith determine the correct calibre if not marked

I don't think the mode B came in anything but 9mm Largo.

The only difference between the largo case & the 38 auto (38 super auto too) is that the Largo case is a true rimless & the 38 auto has a .010 rim.

The model B can be modified to accept the rimmed case. Just take the barrel out & with a 38 auto case see where hits the loaded chamber indicator recess on the barrel. Make the minor changes needed. Then the loaded chamber indicator it's self must be similarly modified. Or it will break when it tries to slide up onto the rim.

Hello. I'm not sure what all calibers the Model B was made in, but 9x19mm was one and, yes, the Model B Super was also chambered in 9mm as well. I have a Model B 9mm that shoots pretty well and is a nice example of the line and wish I'd kept the Model B Super.

Absolutely yes, the Star B is a 9mm Luger gun. But it can accept magazines and barrel of a Model A in 9mm Largo, so you can fire both calibers with the same pistol. Also, most of the Model A pistols can fire .38 ACP and .38 Super without any modifications. Greetings, THUD.-
