I would like to get some info on my Colt 1911 pistol

Right Side:


I found out with the serial number that it was manufactured in 1942.

Any more information that you guys could give me would be great.

You pistol has been modified with the addition of Micro adjustable rear sight and a larger front sight, a full length recoil spring guide rod, aftermarket stocks and mainspring housing, and it looks like some sort of mag well funnel on the front of the mag well. In its current form it is a shooter, don't know if it can be returned to its original configuration. If the slide was modified for the sights, then it cannot be economically returned to any sort of collectible pistol.

IMO from some experience I would value it at anywhere from $400-$550 as is.

I agree, in its current condition it is a shooter worth somewhere around $500.

Detailed photos of the slide area around the sights and the frame with the rubber grips removed will help folks note if the pistol is repairable to collectable condition. If the frame and slide have been modified it can still be done, but the pistol had better have a lot of sentimental value as a war horse because the welding and machining will be expensive.

I think these were $25 pistols when sold by DCM in the 1960s, so many were modified. Like the $12 Krags in the 1930s.
