Please note that the forums in this category are to be used to ask questions or to show us pistols from these manufacturers. They can also be used to ask questions about the parts of a particular pistol from one of these manufacturers, as long as the question relates to the original parts.

  • If your pistol malfunctions and you want to ask for help on how to troubleshoot it, post your question in the "Gunsmithing and Refinishing" forum, not in this one.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market parts, these questions should go in the "Parts - Grips" forum, not in the manufacturers forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about after-market magazines, these questions should go in the "Magazines" forum, not in these forums.

  • If you want to ask questions about conversion kits, those questions should go in the "Conversion Kits" forum, not these forums.
  • If you want to ask questions about which ammo to use with your pistol, those questions should be posted in the "Ammo" forum, not these forums.

Messages with questions for after-market parts, magazines, holsters, conversion kits, ammo etc. will be moved to the proper forum and a warning will be issued.

10mm

I'm wondering if anyone makes a longslide 10mm? Or is this something I would have to manufacture/modify myself? I'm probably going to end up converting a Para P-16 into a 10mm, but I would like a long slide 10mm 1911. And if no one makes a long slide, could you just tell me who makes 5" ones? I know Kimber did, and Dan Wesson I believe did, and I've wanted a Colt Delta Elite since I saw it first listed in their catalog, but not sure who is currently making them.

There are some custom shops that specialize in 10mm pistols as well as long slides. Case Reeder makes a sweet 10mm SS Rail Longslide. Ace custom guns of .45 super fame has a soft spot for the 10mm. (Remember the 10mm express). Any 1911 chambered in .40cal is a easy 10mm conversion. All my 1911's that are in 10mm get a .40 cal barrel fitted and the other way around. STI makes many many 1911's in .40SW. They used to chamber some of the models in 10mm. You can buy a Trojan 6.0 Longslide in .40SW and have another barrel fitted or modify the one it comes with. This is the least expensive (and most simple) way to get a 10mm longslide. The only other option is hunt down a IMI Jvilina and have a custom build done on it. They are a 1911 10mm 7inch longslides. Good luck.

BTW- A Para P16/S16-40 makes a sweet hi cap 10mm.

Moose,
Funky that you bring this up. I'm in the process right now of building a 10mm longslide for a fella here in Texas that I met at a buddy's gunshop earlier this last week. He fell in love with a 400 Corbon longslide I've been building up and ordered the frame there at the shop from Caspian for the build before I left the shop the other day. Bar-Sto makes a 6" 10mm barrel and I ordered the slide earlier today from Caspian for the beast. For sure, it can be done. It aint cheap though...

Ok great thanks for the replies. I think I'm gonna do the P 16 conversion since it seems simplest and cheapest. I'll wait on the long slide until I have more money.

The newer power extractor guns seem to require a decent amount of gunsmithing to get runing correctly. Look for an older P16 or a STI Hi cap in 40SW. STI makes a longslide hi-cap in 40 cal.
