recoil reducers...
Do they really work?
I have a stock Gov't model in 38 Super whose full-length recoil rod is of Chip McCormick, but I want to replace it with a Haarts recoil guide rod (those with mercury balls indside to reduce recoil). Anyone there care to share his/her experiences with the Haarts? |

I can't afford stuff like that, I'll spend my money on ammo and reloading supplies! Supposedly they do work, probably the extra weight afforded by the mercury acting more like a barrel weight.

got the one with springs
john, thanks for your 2 cents! they sure are worth more, coming from an authority like you.
anyway, upon the advice of my 'smith, i ordered the sprinco-type to minimize hard slamming of slide to frame when it is in battery all the way rearward. i trusted him so i have no second thoughts (except for the high price). like you, i love to shoot the 45! |

Those recoil reducers with mercury inside are useless. Go for a tungsten guide rod to add weight and absorb much of the felt recoil.

Thank the heavens you did not fall for Tony Pascual.

i thank my stars also, kerwin. it happened like this: i ordered a set of plunger spring and pins and initially the employee there cannot even tag a price. two days later, they called me up and set the mark at 400 PhP, same price of a b-new Colt set of plunger spring and pins...bastards! "Who wants to do business with them?" I asked myself while shaking my head and grinning all afternoon. |

good for you Ithabrown. That Tony Pascual is just full of air. The customer service sucks. if you want to be treated well, start telling Tony, "I'm thinking of reselling your great products and ...." That will get his attention. All his products are cheap knock-offs of US made products.
I tried the Sprinco but didn't gave significant results. I tried the tungsten guide rods and it works better. Finding it is quite difficult. Try True Weight in Quezon City. They are the ones I know who usually stock these quality products. They may be expensive but their better. Nope. I am not paid for the endorsement. |
