Has anybody oh anybody, used Shooters Solutions parkerizing kits? I've ordered the Grey Kit. I guess I'm going to go for it when it arrives. Any pointers? Breath the fumes vs don't breath. get it on my hands or not. You know general pointers and such.

So just because I parkerize my girlfriend will need to credit card to go out and get something stinky? I don't get it, Why would she want to do that?

I'm thinking that I will probably get it set up in the garage (near the door) if thats the case.

Well One parkerizing job behind me. I spent a good portion of the day Parkerizing my Remington Rand. I used Shooters Solutions gray. It came out very nice. It really looks black until I get it in the sunlight and then it has sort of a gray tint. It works just like they say it will.

I could be a "scrod" out there trying to pass off bad info on parkerizing, But I'm not. The stuff works great. I did a little testing beforehand and I found that the real trick is getting it really degreased, and then degreasing it again.

BTW if I ever get to post pictures, you all are going to get sick of me real quick. If you are not sick of me already .

My wife stinks up the house with her nail junk that has a nasty smell that hangs around for days. In retaliation I take out the Mosin collection, clean them with the nastiest solvents I have, then give them all treatments with Sweets.
She goes out and has her nails done now. And she pays for it, not me.

What parts did you treat? I have a slide that needs refinishing but I don't have the technology to remove the sights. Can the parkerizing be applied with the sights in place?

I did mine with the sights installed. Actually I never even considered taking them out. I don't know if standard milspec sights could present any problems, I don't notice any ill effects from the sights being on. I imagine white outline or dots or those silly a$$ed glow in the dark sights wouldn't like it.
