I also have a Colt to sell, will I be able to bring it?

Also, does one need to be a member to get in?

Sorry for all the questions...........

It was a GREAT SHOW!

I spent Fri/Sat/Sun at the CCA show and it was one of the best CCA shows I'd attended and well worth the travel time. I was pleasantly surprised how many 1911 autos were on display. Many CCA's in the past leaned mostly toward SAA's and six-shooters but this one probably had 1/3 to 1/2 1911 autos. Even the 1st place display in the competition was awarded to a 1911 display by Lowell Pauli. The tides are turning. It was heaven for a 1911 lover like me. Some of the nicest original 1911's were on display like a handful of Singers, a couple North Americans, several prewar A1's, the list is too long. I must have seen 4 or 5 US&S's. And tons of 1911 parts for sale like grips, barrels, slides, etc. I had the privilege of rubbing elbows with a number of big name collectors. I met the West coast guys John Holbrook, Michael Chop, Derek ("seeker of blue"), and many others. It was amazing to see these guys displays in person. WOW! The pictures they post on the forums don't do the guns any real justice. They even let me fondle them. John Holbrooks Navy guns were TREASURE. I've never seen so many historic Navy 1911's in one place and the history on them made it more meaningful. John IMHO your display should have won 1st place! Mr. Chop's stuff was tops too. Those shiny early 1911's were amazing to look at and the fire blue was just dazzling! He has the best mint Transitional I'd ever seen and his early US&S was EXQUISITE. And seeker of blue's stuff was nothing short of awesome and amazing. A pair of early double-digit Colts from the same shipment where in the world can you see that! His Singer was the nicest one at the show and the most beautiful one I'd ever laid eyes on. And NRA guns from both Colt and Springfield. What an honor it was to meet these guys, they were very approachable, highly knowlegable authorities about 1911's. These guys are a real benefit and asset to 1911 collecting, if you ever have any questions I would not hesitate using them as a resource. Great displays, guys and keep it up! Other big name 1911 names were there like Scott Meadows, Lowell Pauli, and even Dave Buehn. Mr Buehn's guns were intriguing to say the very least. Besides that, all-in-all it was a stellar show I am grateful to have attended. Seeing all those rare 1911 collections was a once in a lifetime opportunity and something I will always remember. If the trend for more semiautos continues I would highly recommend going to these yearly events. Here's to Kansas City CCA in 2005!

I was there too. Had a great time. The displays were great........didn't get a chance to talk to John, as he was either was someone else, or gone somewhere.

I bought some grips there. Was looking for a Commander, but there was only one at the show.

Bought a gun from Lowell some years ago, so had a good time chatting with him.

Wish there were some more Colt only shows more often around here......

Send a message via MSN to John
Can someone of you act as my eye there? I mean take pictures of interesting things and come up with a report? We could put it in M1911.ORG for others to read.

Rgds
