    empire 3 1/2 bull barrel..no paperclip hole

Today I got a used commander size..it has bull barrel and telescopic full length guide rail..after removing slide I want to remove guide and barrel...
I compress spring and see no usual paper clip hole..I cant seem to be able to flex rod enough to clear barrel like I can on some short barrel guns...is there a tool missing or what's up?.

First of all, you say the gun you have is Commander-length but then you say it has a 3.5" barrel? Which is it?

If by 'telescoping' you are referring to the guide rod, you likely have an STI recoil master. Here's a really neat webpage, showing what it is and how it works (along with a few other things). Use the buttons to make the slide and frame transparent:

Is this what you have? If so, you need a special plastic little tool. STI sells them.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.
