Read through the link you posted, and you'll see that the author was corrected, and that the cartridge is, indeed, derived from a .223 case.

Still not convinced? Here are a couple of pictures my wife took from the 2011 SHOT show, of the prototype (the same one used as a demonstrator the day before):

The twin caliber kit reportedly comes with two extractors, due to the different case rims.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

    Red face

Uncle, I stand corrected. I quite reading when it said 9mm brass, even at .223 I am not interested. Besides if you saw my other post I have already picked up the GSG.

Right near the top, from the Range day report.

    Sig 1911-22

I got a Sig 1911-22, same as GSG, for Christmas and have only had two problems with it:
    1. Slide stop notch peening
    2. I can't stop tinkering with it, which seems to have infected me with the need to build my own 1911 next.

I have tweaked to eliminate the slide peening problem, but I haven't quite gotten it perfect. I have close to 1000 rounds through mine and that has been the only problem. It isn't quite as accurate as my S&W 422, but I will scare silhouette rams at 75 yards.

I picked up a GSG/1911 22 about 2 weeks ago. I had some hesitation after reading all the reviews, both good and bad.
I could not be happier with the gun. I have over 600 rounds through and it runs perfect. I have been shooting Federal 550 bulk plated ammo.

The only thing I am going to change on the gun is the MSH to steel and heading out to my shop to make a full length guide rod.

I am thinking of buying one of these from a local shop. I see references to upgraded parts. What should I be looking for? Or are they inexpensive enough to buy so it really does not matter?

The only thing I use plastic for is to pay for my metal 1911's.

The one thing they change was the spring. The new ones are not tapered.
Seems most change the guide rod to a full length. Cost is about $20.
Never had a problem with mine. Great gun and fun to shoot. Fell free to PM me for more info.

Got mine last month - hate that CA refuses to let us have threaded barrels.

Ran a couple hundred rounds through with zero issues. I changed out the guide rod before I ever shot it.

Overall a great plinker. accuracy was not bad. Don't like the trigger. May spring for a trigger job to make it a bit smoother....

    Speaking of springs....

What size (weight/lbs) is the mainspring in the GSG/Sig Sauer 1911 22LR?
