Sig 1911 XO - Questions about Mag Well

I have a new 1911 XO on the way and one thing Id like to upgrade is the mag-well. I see that Sig offers a Factory Upgrade. I called Sig to find out if its a 1 piece and/or a replacement of the main spring housing and to find out if its grooved/checkered. The gentleman I spoke with couldnt answer those questions.

Ive been looking at the usual brands to purchase a mag well / MSH but my concern is the finish - will it match the finish of my XO?

Ive seen a lot of pictures in the Pics thread. Can anyone suggest which brand they know will match the finish of a 1911 XO and is checkered on the back to match the front checkering?

Id prefer not to buy the add-on that mounts using the grip screws.

From the looks of it, I would give an edjucated guess that the magwell is an Ed Brown part due to the way it screws into the mainspring housing from the bottom and also due to the rounded profile. The Ed Brown piece has these two things unique to it which the other common brands don't have. You would likely have to replace the MSH with drilled and tapped unit, and the magwell that would mate to it. Brown sells this as a combo unit on their site.

I have replaced the MSH on 4 of my SIG pistols
one is XO and one is Target model.
I used the Fusion Fireams on one and EGW - on the other - both are Ed Brown Style - the match in color is very good. I think ( not positive) the Fusion and the EGW are made by Ed Brown or vise versa - no difference in construction and assembly for two piece MSH/Magwells

I would recommed the Smith and Alexander - the blued finish is a a black blue and matt in finish - much closer to the Nitron matt finish - fits perfect!

I have the Smith Alex on my SS XO - either way - all are good MSH/magwells.
