What other mfg's make a 1911 without the attorney provided series 80 firing system? Colt still makes one but only in 1 model? Are Colt series 70's built well.

Colt also makes Wiley Clapp's TALO Commander, which doesn't have a firing pin safety.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

Springfield and Rock Island are two.
I believe the hi-end custom and semi custom market is full of 70 series too

The non-firing pin safety selection is going to be anything from Springfield, the Colt Series 70 reproduction, or any of the high end builders, including but not limited to Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom, Volkmann, Ed Brown, and Ron Phillips; there are others, but those are the custom shops that immediately come to mind. As for the non-custom guns, as I said, Springfield is going to be basically it aside from a couple of models in the Kimber line up, but I've not been 100% happy with any one of the three Kimbers I've owned.
Just please be advised that most Kimbers use a Swartz firing pin block, so if you want a pistol without a firing pin block, only a couple of the Kimber models would qualify.Originally Posted by mwink822, emphasis addes

Hence my qualification of only a couple models being sans Swartz system, though it would have been helpful to specify which models. That said, the aforementioned sans Swartz firing pin safety Kimbers are the Warrior, Desert Warrior, and SIS series. Furthermore, if one is to look in the used market, any Kimber not designated II will be without the firing pin block, i.e. Custom II has the firing pin block but a Kimber Custom does not.Originally Posted by Frank
I know, and you were absolutely correct. I was just trying to add some emphasis. It's been my experience that sometimes qualifying phrases like "a couple of model" get overlooked -- leading to misunderstanding.Originally Posted by mwink822
No offense.

No offense taken, and I completely agree, qualifiers such as "a couple of" are often sufficiently vague and ambiguous as to create misunderstanding...particularly in the context in which I used it. No buenoOriginally Posted by Frank

If it isn't durable, it isn't reliable.
The three manufacturers from the Philippines (Armscor/Rock Island, Shooters Arms/SAM, and Metro Arms) do not use any firing pin safety.Originally Posted by boblenaere
What kind of attorney makes a practice out of modifying handguns, by the way? I have never met or heard of an attorney whose practice included installing safety devices on 1911s.
