    Citadel and the 45 Super

Hello everyone. I am new here, and I must confess I don't currently own a 1911---But I'm fixing that shortcoming real soon, like in a week or so. Anyways, I am looking at and like the Citadel pistol, but I have read here on this forum that the 'forged slide and frame" are NOT in fact forged at all.

I am wanting to run 45 Super ammo in the gun, and I have researched the needed mods to the gun, ie. heavy recoil spring, etc. I want to put a compensator on it as well since this won't be my carry piece. What do you experienced 1911 guys think about the Citadel holding up?

BTW, I am an avid shooter, hunter and reloader. I am a newbie to the 1911, but not to 45 cal since I own one of a different make. I am mostly a rifle guy, but I think everyone should own a 1911 so i am buying one soon.

    Thanks

I think it might be a good idea to go here

    http://www.acecustom45s.com/45super.htm

and call them about what guns are and are not safe with the 45 Super conversion before trying it .

I would trust qualified gunsmiths with something this important rather than just opinions of people on any Forum .
