Kimber 1911/.22 Conversion Kit on a MetroArms AC II Deluxe

I bought a Kimber Kit (black) and put it on a MetroArms American Classic II Deluxe 1911 and the results have been excellent! I sighted it in to be “dead-on” at 7 yards (21 ft) with both the iron sights and the Crimson Trace LG401 Burlwood Laser Grips that I bought for the pistol. According to FBI statistics, the vast majority of handgun battles take place within this range.

My conversion kit is tempermental about ammo brands (I'm told that they all are) and seems to like American Eagle .22 Long Rifle (High Velocity ammo is always suggested). Don't be concerned if the kit you buy doesn't work great with the first .22 ammo that you put through it. You may have to experiment with different brands to find what works best for yours.

I have no trouble putting 7 to 9 rounds out of 10 into one ragged hole quite regularly. It saves a lot of money and allows me to practice much more often than shooting .45 ACP rounds at about 35 cents a round!

I got a ciener kit for my firestorm DLX (same gun as your classic II). when I ordered the kit from midwayusa the only high velocity 22 ammo that they had in stock that I was willing to pay for was aguila 38gr hollowpoints. the first 100 rounds had a few malfunctions but once I got it oiled enough it worked alot better. CCI minimags are the round of choice for most 22 conversions. I got 100 rounds of the CCI, with another brick of 500 on the way. we'll see how it goes.

SWEET ! Just what I wanted to hear. I just bought an "American Classic II" and will be picking it up this coming week. I also bought a slightly used Kimber conversion kit with 3 mags for $250 on gunbroker. Figured that would be a nice set up. I used to have an early Kimber stainless target and regret selling it. After reading all the great reviews on the Classic I thought I could get back into owning a nice 1911 relatively cheaply. Thanks, Shooboy the Newbie
