I bought a Kimber Kit (black) and put it on a MetroArms American Classic II Deluxe 1911 and the results have been excellent! I sighted it in to be “dead-on” at 7 yards (21 ft) with both the iron sights and the Crimson Trace LG401 Burlwood Laser Grips that I bought for the pistol. According to FBI statistics, the vast majority of handgun battles take place within this range.
My conversion kit is tempermental about ammo brands (I'm told that they all are) and seems to like American Eagle .22 Long Rifle (High Velocity ammo is always suggested). Don't be concerned if the kit you buy doesn't work great with the first .22 ammo that you put through it. You may have to experiment with different brands to find what works best for yours.
I have no trouble putting 7 to 9 rounds out of 10 into one ragged hole quite regularly. It saves a lot of money and allows me to practice much more often than shooting .45 ACP rounds at about 35 cents a round!
