Springfield Custom Shop Service??? Does it exist???

So I emailed the custom shop about upgrading my Mil Spec. Got an email that whomever that email went to was out of the office till Jan 3rd but that if I need help to email sales or customer service or whatever, I did. That was about a week ago and I have still gotten no response from them???

Guess they don't need or want my money.

On the flipside Bob from Fusion Firearms was answering my emails all Christmas weekend even Sunday. He has promptly answered every email and every question I have had.

Moral of the story? My money is going to Fusion not Springfield.

Actually I am sending my Mil Spec to Bob at Fusion to have even more work done on it than I planned on Springfield doing.

the Custom shop has been off since last week. Rather than complain about it, there is a thing called a telephone, if it was really that important. If it was about custom work, customer service will have told you to call back on Jan 4th, since they are different departments.

They close for the holidays every year. I do not know if all of Springfield is off, but the customs hop is. Many gun setups close for the holidays like that

the email back said so and so was out till the 4th nothing about the whole custom shop being closed. And it said to email sales or customer service if you needed anything not to wait until the 4th cuz they were closed. Once again another example of how not to do business. If you are going to be closed for an extended period you should probably put a notice on your website or in the automatic email replies you send people.

Why do we have emails and texting????? SO WE DON'T HAVE TO USE THE PHONE!! I don't want to call and wait on the phone!

Not really important as in an emergency but when you are about to spend a good chunk of money on something I expect the decency of a reply to an inquiry within a timely manner. I Wasn't complaining simply stated what happened.

I guess we are only allowed to sing the praises of Springfield but not criticize them in here?

Funny its not like that in the Kimber section.

the only way to get immediate answers is talking to a live body. do you think you are the only email they get? email is not the end all, be all form of communication. For business if it's important, i send an email then i follow up with a call to confirm that they got it. Texting is fine for short message's, but it you carry a conversation through text, might as well pickup the phone.

also common sense would say that they may be out on holiday, since they said contact sales or customer service and didn't direct you to another Custom Shop person.

Shipwreck didn't have any problems when he called last week to order his Custom Shop build.

BTW, Kimber doesn't have a real Custom Shop

They got my gun done on the 22nd and shipped.
Spoke to Jay yesterday and he said he would be out till the 4th also, I too jumped on this board and talked down Springfield but it's time to MAN-UP and Apologize to the Customer Service Staff and the Custom Shop and Thank Them for a wonderful Job!
Take it from me,Don't get your shorts in a knot, TSA is watching.

I have had nothing but a good experience with the Custom Shop. They called me during Christmas week to let me know my pistol was ready, I called them back this last Monday and the shipped it right away, I got it the next day. Deb from the custom shop handles almost all the e-mail requests and calls into the custom shop so she is very busy. She is very good about getting back to you, but sometimes it takes a day or two as she get alot of inquiries.

I don't know how anyone could hold it against somebody for taking a week off during one of the most important holiday seasons. Good luck with you Fusion.

No time to wait on the phone, but enough time to write in the complaints on the forum?

Get a grip, pick up the phone.

I'd rather patronize a company that respects its employees enough to give them some time off to spend Christmas and New Year's with their families.

I agree with edwardyoung- SA is simply a company... that happens to build guns... SA's Custom Shop is not the 1911 police who exist solely to serve and protect 24/7/365- my God it's the Christmas season!

akthor, I'm sure Fusion will do great work for you, good for you getting you gun built the way you want it done, with the response time that you want.
